Colin's Woodworking

Image of Colin Waters

Colin Waters

His first major project was to build a Gremlin pram dinghy in his bedroom when I was 13 years old!

Since then he has never lost the thrill for pieces of beautiful wood.

Now in retirement he has had time to build a dedicated workshop and stock it with all the machines he had dreamed of owning.

His main focus is on contemporary furniture with an interest in Arts & Craft furniture.

Woodworking

about Colin

Colin is 67 years old and lives in Hampshire, England. His favourite subject at secondary school was woodwork although after school he trained as a mechanical engineer and is now a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

Towards the end of his engineering apprenticeship he spent 3 years at The City University, London where he graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering and gained a keen interest in photography. Most of his subsequent career was concerned with gas turbine aero-engines, research work and engineering plant management.

All a far cry from woodworking, although, ever since leaving school he has continued to make furniture for his home and, subsequently, his childrens' homes. He is a member of the Southern Fellowship of Woodwokers.
